Tanko shows Swiss fuel prices. It has no accounts, no logins and no advertising, and it does not sell or share data for marketing. This page describes exactly what leaves your device and who receives it.

Your location

Tanko needs a point to measure distances from. That is either your device location, if you grant permission, or the centre of the map if you do not. Tanko never asks for location on a first visit — it only reads a permission you have already granted.

Your coordinates are used to rank stations and are not stored on any server we run. They are sent, as coordinates alone, to the services in the table below.

What is stored on your device

Three items in your browser's local storage. None of it is transmitted, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Who receives what

Requests marked via our server are made by Tanko's backend, so the third party sees our server's address and not yours. Requests marked from your browser reach the third party directly, which means they can see your IP address.

Usage statistics, stated plainly

Tanko records anonymous usage events — which fuel was selected, that a search was run, that a station was tapped — using Umami. No cookies are set and no profile is built across sites.

Two things about it deserve to be said directly rather than buried:

If you would rather not be counted, blocking requests to tanko.ch/a stops it, and nothing else in Tanko depends on it.

What Tanko never does

Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and, where it applies, the GDPR, you may request access to personal data held about you, ask for correction or deletion, and object to processing. In practice Tanko holds no account and no profile, so the data that exists about you is limited to server logs and the usage statistics above.

Changes

If what Tanko sends or to whom changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
